Supporting UK sovereignty through space: how ALL.SPACE delivers on the Strategic Defence Review 2025

The UK Strategic Defence Review 2025 (SDR) provides a bold framework for safeguarding the nation in an increasingly dangerous and unpredictable world. Combined with the interventions set out in the recently released Modern Industrial Strategy, the UK government is laying out a strategic framework which emphasises resilience, space power, interoperability with allies, and crucially, sovereign industrial capability to ensure Britain is “secure at home and strong abroad”.

At ALL.SPACE, we’re intentionally enabling that mission. As a UK-headquartered defence technology company, we’re delivering world-leading, next-generation satellite communications platforms – while investing in Britain’s defence industrial base, high-tech workforce, and strategic autonomy.

A UK-engineered capability for a UK-led future

The SDR 2025 emphasises that sovereign, UK-controlled space and communications capabilities are vital for national security and economic resilience. Stakeholders are advocating for a defence ecosystem that not only collaborates with allies, but also provides core capabilities that are designed in the UK.

ALL.SPACE is answering that call, and ready to deliver:

  • Engineered and tested in the UK: we leverage UK-based R&D, software development and systems integration to deliver our next-generation Hydra terminals.
  • Manufactured in the UK and U.S: we have manufacturing capability in the UK (Reading) and the U.S., leveraging UK-U.S. defence industrial cooperation frameworks.
  • Exported to NATO and Five Eyes Nations: we enable interoperability across trusted defence partnerships.
  • Designed to meet the MOD’s evolving needs: we deliver resilient, multi-orbit, multi-domain comms-on-the-move (COTM) across land, sea, and air.

The Modern Industrial Strategy further backs this approach, stating that the path for high growth in sectors like Defence “rests on strong domestic foundations, especially in a world where global supply chains – while still critical – cannot be relied upon unconditionally”. Interventions include: investing in critical supply chains & national security capabilities, driving & supporting innovation, as well as prioritising the development of technologies & capabilities with both civil and military applications.

Building the space resilience the UK needs

As the SDR states: space is no longer a benign domain. Adversaries are actively targeting critical space infrastructure. We must be able to operate with resilience and redundancy – despite complex, dynamic or even denied conditions.

Our Hydra terminal family is the enabler of the next generation of battlefield cloud and space systems. Offering resilient Command & Control (C2), our advanced defence tech aligns with the UK’s defence vision to “ensure the United Kingdom is both secure at home and strong abroad – now and for the years to come”. The Hydra Terminals are purpose-built to meet the rigorous demands of mission-critical defence operations, offering:

  • Simultaneous access to multiple orbits (GEO, MEO, LEO) for uninterrupted connectivity.
  • Support for multiple bands (Ka, Ku, L-band) for ultimate resilience and redundancy.
  • Seamless integration with military and commercial constellations, including UK-led initiatives like SKYNET – for one solution which solves every mission.

This game-changing multi-band, multi-link, multi-orbit capability and agility is vital for the mission assurance and operational continuity that the SDR seeks, in extreme and contested environments.

Enabling coalition interoperability and multi-domain operations

The UK’s defence strategy relies on enhancing interoperability with NATO, the Five Eyes, and other trusted allies. The SDR emphasises systems that can integrate seamlessly into allied architectures across land, sea, air, cyber, and space.

ALL.SPACE terminals are built to enable such critical interoperability; they are built for purpose, NATO-compatible, and aligned with the UK MOD’s goal for modular, open architecture systems that evolve with mission needs.

With Hydra terminals currently deployed in joint operations with the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, we offer undeniable proof that our tech can deliver what is needed not only for our safeguarding sovereign capabilities, but maintaining the UK’s leadership and support of NATO and other allied frameworks.

Innovation that moves at the speed of threat

The SDR emphasises the need for “mission-led innovation” and a more agile, forward-leaning approach to capability delivery.

Lengthy timelines and stovepiped systems will not keep pace with the speed of modern threats – we need technologies like ours, which deliver:

  • Rapidly deployable and field-proven platforms
  • Software-defined terminals which evolve via over-the-air updates
  • Continuous innovation via close collaboration with UK MOD and global partners

Our Hydra terminals are the most advanced fieldable solution in their class, integrating multiple links, orbits, and bands into a single, unified terminal for seamless, high-throughput communications in the most demanding operational environments.

A sovereign partner for a safer Britain

ALL.SPACE is not just a technology provider; we’re a trusted partner in the UK dedicated to achieving the SDR’s objectives for a safer, more sovereign, and globally relevant Britain. As BAE Systems CEO Charles Woodburn aptly noted “the UK’s defence sector is a powerhouse of skilled employment and training. Across the supply chain, it’s critical that we continue to invest in our people, just as much as we invest in technology, to ensure we can deliver the capabilities our armed forces need to stay ahead in an era of increasing instability”.

ALL.SPACE is proud to say that we’re doing just that. From our advanced facility in Reading, Berkshire, we’re:

  • Enabling secure and resilient comms between UK and allied forces.
  • Driving innovation in UK defence technology.
  • Supporting and creating high-skilled jobs across R&D and systems integration whilst investing in UK STEM talent.
  • Providing a fielded, exportable capability that reflects UK excellence on a global stage.

ALL.SPACE delivers a SATCOM capability that is engineered in the UK, globally deployable, and fully aligned with SDR 2025 and the Modern Industrial Strategy priorities, as well as the operational needs of the UK Armed Forces and their allies.

From the battlefield and the boardroom to sovereign capability and global interoperability, ALL.SPACE stands ready to deliver.
